Drawing: Premature Optimization?

Premature Optimization Is The Root Of All Evil
Premature Optimization is a term I picked up yesterday (From the Wakoopa guys) during lunch. I wanted to blog about it but the concept is well known among developers and often blogged about. So here is a drawing I made instead.

Drawing: Using Your Imagination

I am extremely innovative in coming up with things to do besides work. Unfortunately so are most people.

I used to make these little drawing all the time when I was in art school. Then I stopped. Today, as I was looking for an excuse for NOT doing what I REALLY need to be doing I noticed this little notebook on my desk and decided to draw a little. It is going to take a while for me to get used to drawing again. Maybe I can find some old work and get some inspiration from that.

The ONLY Black iPhone In The World

Black iPhoneA few weeks ago I dropped my iPhone on the kitchen floor and cracked the glass. I was extremely disappointed and shared my feelings on Twitter.

But then Oscar Kneppers came up with a beautiful plan. I’m not going into all the details here because I want to leave that to Bright Magazine but it involved Mark Hoekstra and you can see the result here:

Architecture 2.0

Architecture 2.0My father is a well known architect from Rotterdam. After visiting the Next Web Conference in Amsterdam last year he decided to organize a conference about the future of architecture. It grew into a pretty impressive event over the previous months!

The Architecture 2.0 conference will be held on November 9 in ‘De Doelen’ in Rotterdam, The Netherlands and is organized together with NAi (the dutch architecture museum) in Rotterdam.

The speakers are Wiel Arets, Ben van Berkel, Francine Houben, Rem Koolhaas, Winy Maas and Willem Jan Neutelings.

The event will be opened by the mayor of Rotterdam, Ivo Opstelten, closed by Chief Government architect Mels Crouwel and moderated by Ole Bouwman who is the director of the dutch architecture museum ‘NAi‘.

If you are interested in the future of architecture you should definitely try to get a ticket now before they are sold out.
