iPhone Love
the main reason for our trip to San Francisco next week (just between you and me) isn’t Techcrunch20 or Fleck promotion…
The real reason is we need to get our own iPhone!
We plan to take a cab straight from the airport to the nearest Apple Store and buy 2 iPhones.
So, if you have any tips for us about hacks, special software to install or other ways to get more fun out of our iPhones please let us know.
PS: yes, that is an iPhone she is holding. It is one of the first photos you find when you search for iPhone at Flickr. Really…

So you are going to pay for an AT&T two year service plan which you won’t use much (or not at all) to get the iPhone here on the continent before everybody else can get their hands on them? Pretty big Apple fan you are Boris ;)
Or are you going to use it for development..?
Hi Marijn: I’m planning on hacking it and just using it with my Vodafone GPRS Sim card. Should work out just fine…
If you’re planning to use it with your Vodafone SIM, then your options are:
Hardware-unlock (only if you master soldering)
TurboSIM (hard, completely sold out)
Waiting for iPhoneSIMfree’s software unlock solution
We chose the Supersim method with a T-Mobile SIM, since we already have a T-Mobile subscription (although it also works with Dutch T-Mobile prepaid).

Hi Boris,
I’m probably going for the supersim method when I get a hold of one. Although I’m quite sure that doesn’t work for Vodafone. But this is probably the solution you’re looking for;

I recon there will be a nice GUI wrapped around it in a week or so… And… it’s free!!! So what to lose (except maybe an exploding iPhone) ;)
Good luck.

Why not simply visit your old friend in Paris next week? Then you can join him in visiting the Apple Expo where the European 3G iPhone will be available. Possibly. Maybe.
Boris-
I found your blog while searching for ‘vodafone netherlands prepaid internet iphone support.’
I have have an unlocked 1.113 iphone and purchased a prepaid vodafone sim card with access to their 9.50 euro a month mobile internet plan.
In the settings/general/network/edge settings I have put the APN at live.vodafone.com with vodafone as the password as username as suggested my multiple other post.
Unfortunately I am only able to get very limited internet service- if any. It seems the graphics of any web page are not being delivered. My mail function works fine as I can send and receive mail from the accounts i set up on the iphone but no locate me now function on the maps either. Vodafone is not actively supporting the iphone with the customer support so I am stuck. Is it my settings or theirs which is set up incorrectly.
Thanks for your help in advance.
Steve
