Blackberry Curve Pro
Every time I show my Blackberry Curve to a Blackberry user they go crazy and want one too. I’m confident that it will become the most popular Blackberry ever.
So the question is: when can I buy one?
On monday I met someone who had ordered one in the UK and then paid 50 dollars to another company to have the sim lock removed.
In the Netherlands you will be able to get one from Vodafone. But not the one you might expect. I overheard that they will offer a special Blackberry Curve with extra hardware.
No word on a release date or those extra features.
Who can guess what they will be?
WiFi?
GPS?
Videocamera?

I have the BlackBerry Pearl from Vodafone as you know and I have been a customer at Vodafone for a few years now. During those years I never got any new or better hardware. Sometimes Vodafone changed the looks of the telephone (like the Sony Ericsson K600 which Vodafone had as the V600), but the phone was pretty much the same. So I can’t really think of any hardware.
What I CAN imagine, is that they add a lot of their own software and remove or disable standard, nice or helpful functionality again. Just to make sure you use the crappy Vodafone Live webbrowser for instance instead for example Opera Mini.
And hide the internet settings to keep their walled garden in tact. (If you want to install your own software on your BlackBerry using Vodafone in The Netherlands you need to change the APN settings to office.vodafone.nl, username vodafone, password vodafone)
So, I am looking forward to what they are going to surprise us with. But I don’t have much hope for something really great.
Just ordered a brand new unlocked BlackBerry Curve. I guess it’s an AT&T unlocked. I expect so much from this phone.
I hope the next BB will have:
- Touch-screen
- 3G
- 5MP camera
- Office Suite integrated
- Wi-Fi
- Voip Client (like the new N95).
Let’s see if RIM can make the best ever smartphone.
