Sailing on the Pacific
So today we were invited to go sailing on a yacht on the Pacific Ocean. The yacht was 53 feet long and had two sails. There were 3 people doing the actual sailing and the rest of us was just drinking beer.
At one point the captain said ‘I need a break, who wants to steer’ and I promptly said “I want to!’. I meant it as a joke because I don’t know anything about sailing. But the captain gave me the wheel, explained a few things and then left me there at the wheel.
After a few hours it was decided that it would be a good thing to return to the harbor. Just then the wind disappeared. the captain tried to start the engine so we could use that to get back but that failed. We ended up floating for a while until the wind picked up again. But then they had to get into the harbor without an engine which was quite an ordeal.
I had no idea that sailing would be this much fun!
