April 7, 1969: Birth of the Internet?

Happy Birthday Internet!

I just found out (from Wired.com) that the Internet turned 38 today. This means that the Internet has been around for 13,879  days now.

I’m only 35 years or 13,027 days old.

Of course the birth date of the internet is hard to establish and you could argue that April 7, 1969 (The publication of the first “request for comments,” or RFC) marks the inception date rather than its birth.

Still, a remarkable day which could use a bit more attention from the Internet Community.
