Tessa and me on a mountain…

Last year I took a lot of photos and made several small movies while skiing. But this year I lost my digital camera on the second day of our stay in Meribel.

The only photos I have are these 4 which Daniel J. Ashes made with his digital camera.

Which camera should I buy as a replacement for my trusted Sony CyberShot T1?

I’m hearing good things about the Canon Powershot series. Take a look at flickr.com/cameras for more reference material.

if not a leica….why bother….:)

hahaha, well, even before I opened these comments, the first thing which crossed my mind was “you should definately consider a Leica”

btw, the one you’re linking too is a rebadged Lumix. Even though I myself am sensitive for that little red dot, paying up to twice the price of an almost identical Lumix is a little silly I guess… ^_^

The real Leicas start with the M system (if I’m not mistaking, I’m not a Leica expert or such):

If you’re really (and I mean *really*) cool, you should get some black duct tape and tape off the Leica brandname and logo… It’s only yesterday that I learned that professional photographers tape off logos and such so the ones they’re trying to capture don’t get distracted by the logo and such (I’m happily sharing my knowlege here ^_^)… Now combine that with a Leica, a brand also attracting (no offence to anyone) the wrong people or people buying these cameras for the wrong reasons… Heck, I guess you also would get annoyed (after the first dozen) of people coming up to you asking “is that a Leica?”. So, my tip for you is a true Leica with taped off logos… :D

I think Mark is making very nifty remarks indeed…

Guido: does that mean you will now add tape to your Leica M8 logo?

If you’re looking for a point and shoot, I’ll go for the Fuji F30 (picture quality unrivaled)

Oh woops, I wasn’t trying to offend anyone. I just thought (still do actually) that imho a taped off Leica is almost the ultimate in coolness, but… probably not everyone’s taste, that’s all
