That Same Old Joke. Again.

The Sprout article got me a lot of attention and some mixed reactions.

Some people told me they were getting tired of reading that same old story of the V3 years and Hubhop and how i lost and made money over the years. “Get over it” and “maybe its time for a new story” were some of the milder reactions.

But then there are the other reactions from people who had never heard of me or my stories. They were inspired and sometimes even moved.

So now im in doubt. Enough with the annecdotes?
Or is there power in repetition?

How big is my audience and how many times can i repeat myself?

  1. How big is your audience? If the story is worth telling the audience’ size doen’t count. Think as an individual – ego-centric. And what good can your experience do to the world. Can others tell your story in the way you can for example? Please don’t tell me you are in doubt because one or two people try to tell you they know the story better or are more experienced etc etc. As long as you see and more importantly feel the story is worth telling, just do it. And for F%^k sake enjoy your holiday. :-)

  2. boris, i don’t think that the story @ itself is what tires people. but the fact that the lesson learned from it and the lack of context is what tires people.
when is was reading the sprout article i thought; ‘what a great combination! boris the exit king is giving some inside tips and sharing some trading tricks based on his own personal experience!!!” and than i read the same story again.

but the writer of the article could have done a better job too! on knowing the public, knowing the theme of the magazine, the context within you are interviewed, and using the info you are giving, to write the article. not just telling (copy pasting) your story, hightlighting some pieces and think he’s done.

at the end when it comes to ‘who’s ‘responsible” for what and how people are receiving your message; there is just 1! and that is you.

you decide how to cook. which ingredients to use and which order and if it is tastful enough!

we all can learn from a person like richard branson.
version 3 (and again updated and mostly rewritten) is out now. telling the same story using other words, other examples, putting some things in an other perspective and ginving some great tips on storytelling. but it is an instant hit. and i even bought it for the third time ;)

    but hey, who am i?

    keep up the good work!
