Boris Veldhuijzen van Zanten on Wikipedia!

Wikipedia logoMonths ago I expressed my wish to be included in Wikipedia. I know I could just add myself but that wouldn’t be the same, or fair. Patrick then decided to add me to Wikipedia and spent a lot of time writing an entry. But the Wikipedia moderators found it too, I don’t know what, and deleted it within a few hours.

Imagine my surprise when yesterday (February 17) I suddenly started seeing traffic to my blog from Wikipedia! And yes, here it is, my own ‘Boris Veldhuijzen van Zanten – Wikipedia‘ entry!

So now I have a question. As you will see the Wikipedia entry is fairly limited and incomplete. Can I edit and complement it myself?

    You are not the first that has the question about editing your own Wikipage. Even Kevin Kelly asked it once: http://ask.metafilter.com/14973/

    Wikipedia rules say (I thought) That you can’t edit, only small corrections and all should be able to be checked by a second source.

    Its a bit more vague. You shouldn’t delete any info or start an page about yourself. As long the information can be verified you can add new stuff.

    Nu nog een Wikipedia over V3, ooit als “goeroes” beschreven op HYPED.nl in 1 van de eerste artikelen 6 jaar geleden:

    Heb ook zo’n mooi geval. Het leek mij ook een mooie manier om een biografie te schrijven en linking te vergroten. Toen ik een bericht kreeg dat ik niet over mijzelf een bericht mocht plaatsen was ik eigenlijk een beetje kwaad. Wat een gezeur.

    Heb dan ook de bewuste pagina verwijderd en had het gehad met Wikipedia. Wat schets mijn verbazing ik kom via via een google verwijzing tegen waarin een admin de pagina terug heeft geplaatst met de mededeling dat ik de melding niet had mogen verwijderen :-) Vreemd verhaal.

    Boris, als jij mijn pagina opstart werk ik een stukje aan jouw pagina. Deal?
