Stealing electricity?

My Innocent Face.

I’m in a hotel restaurant somewhere waiting for the people I have a meeting with. They offer wifi access here but is 10 euro per hour so ill pass on that.

My laptop battery was empty too so I got a table near a wall socket. I sat down, unpacked my bag and plugged in my adapter. I always try to look innocent but I feel guilty and awkward. Electricity isn’t expensive but I don’t ask permission to use it and I always just take it.

Know the feeling?

  1. Hee Boris,

I most certainly know the feeling. Even if I do ask for permission. There should be some sort of new socket that indicates that it’s a public one. And all the bars, restaurants and all other public places that do not have any or just not enough sockets should place them and add a sign on their wall. This will get all the powerjunks in and order drinks and food. I know I would and I am sure you would too.

    Ciao,

    Johan

  2. Johan: you are right! When KPN bought HubHop I developed/designed an extension cord in KPN green to be distributed at KPN Hotspots. I figured that the most important reason for people NOT to hang around was that their gadgets ran out of juice. They never used it but I still think it is a good idea…

  3. Well, time for a new and improved plan than. Too bad KPN never understood the power of power. Maybe powercompanies do understand it. They might even think of juicemeters that are not free to use, but have some sort of optional payment possibility. Just like the old times were you had to insert a coin to get power or gas. ;-) Although I rather have ‘m for free. Maybe they could think of extra services connected to this juicesupplier…

  4. Well, I guess it’s about time for a juicebar! …euhm… ^_^

  5. power to the people

  6. there you have it!

juicebar: power to the people …and some drinks.

I would walk in if I saw that on a bar :-)
