Ski!

Ski. Photo by Boris Veldhuijzen van Zanten. Tomorrow night (friday morning actually) I'm leaving for Meribel Mottaret in the French Alps. It is located in Le Trois Vallees and I'm staying there for a week. I have been looking forward to this trip for months now, checking the weather forecasts and Webcams of the area on a daily basis. I'm planning on drinking and eating way too much and will report on my progress in that area. As usual I will blog via...

Fleck & Clipmarks

Clipmarks.com is a service with a Firefox Extension that lets you copy/paste content from other sites. It is similar to Fleck in a sense because it allows more interaction with websites you visit. A clear difference is that Fleck is ON the page you want to work with and Clipmarks is BESIDES the page you want to work with. Still, some very interesting features here and worth another...

Temporary = Permanent

'I'll call you back' 'That is impossible' "it's not you, it's me' These lines mean something else. I have another one for you: 'This is just temporary' Temporary has a habit of becoming permanent. Always! A temporay name, logo, fix or description is always what you end up with permanently. My solution: do everything permanent, and right, the first time. You might not GET it right the first time and you can always change it again later. But don't think of anything as a temporary...

Testing Postie with WordPress 2.1

Since I upgraded wordpress to version 2.1 the Postie plug-in ceased to work. Fortunately i just found a fix here. Also, if you happen to get this error when running Postie: The server said - POP3: premature NOOP OK, NOT an RFC 1939 Compliant server. Do this: edit wp-includes/class-pop3.php, and change this line: if($this->RFC1939) { to this: if(!$this->RFC1939) { (add exclamation point). Hope that...

A Good Old Fashioned Boycott!

Gizmodo has declared March the month to boycott the RIAA. Read the story and see how you can help. "We want to get the word out to as many people as humanly possible that we can all send a message by refusing to buy any album put out by an RIAA label." I like it...read more | digg...

Apple Mac OS XIV?

An incredible video of what could be the future of computer interfacing. I wonder if I would actually use this one day on my folding MacBook Pro with touchscreen monitor and motion sensor and GPS and 12 Megapixel camera and UMTS build...

Yahoo Pipes on BNR

Yesterday I was a guest at De Electronische Eeuw by Herbert Blankesteyn from Business New Radio. Together with Michiel Frackers we discussed Yahoo Pipes. At one moment I told them about a Vanity Search I made with Yahoo Pipes and Herbert replied in dutch "Ok, dus je hebt jezelf ge-piped?" This is funny because 'Pipes' if you translate it in dutch is 'pijpen'. And 'pijpen' is also the word for a blow job. Seriously. So Herbert asked me "Ok, so you gave yourself a blow...

No More BlackBerry Pearl for me…

It is true. Today I switched off my BlackBerry Pearl and re-activated my old and trusted 8700. The Pearl is much lighter and better looking but I just couldn't really get used to the awkward keyboard. As soon as Vodafone upgrades their software so I can actually photoblog with the Pearl I will switch back again. I don't like the keyboard but I would be willing to sacrifice a bit if I could actually email the photos I make with the...
