Use your BlackBerry Pearl as a Bluetooth Modem under OS X
January 4th, 2007
In anticipation to my Blackberry Pearl I looked arround for user feedback and found this usefull script. It allows you to use the Blackberry Pearl as a Wireless Modem for your MacBook pro or other bluetooth enabled Mac.
I hope someone has tried this in the Netherlands with Vodafone…

What kind of mobile internet connection are you using? Because my GRPS connection doesn’t beat wifi at all..
Bram: I mean that I am more interested in ALWAYS being connected, even if is with lower speeds, than only when and if I find a Wi-Fi Hotspot. In that sense I think this beats Wi-Fi.
You are right that UMTS or Egde is probably slower than Wi-Fi.
Yes, from a RSS/news/email perspective it sure beats wi-fi. When i’m traveling the only thing i do is look up some news/email/rss on my phone so it doesn’t matter that the speed is a bit low.
I never use my phone as a modem because i can’t hook it up to my mac (it’s a windows mobile device.. it can sync contact and calenders though) and i wouldn’t use it on my pc laptop because you would need to hook it up via a very clumsy usb cable (damn cables AGAIN) to connect it. Although i am a geek, i don’t have an urge to look like one :). Bluetooth seems perfect.
