Mac OS X Startup key sequences to keep with you…
January 3rd, 2007
This is the list I should have had in Paris when my MacBook Pro freezed and didn’t respond to anything.
I have printed the whole list and am keeping it in my Tumi bag (Maybe I should even add it to my Top 10 list of things to bring with me?) with my cables and backup disk.
Maybe you should do the same: Mac OS X Startup key sequences
And the official Apple page with even more shotcuts: Mac OS X keyboard shortcuts
Robin Bos tipped me to the “My Mac Won’t Start PocketMod Edition“. It is a one page booklet that you can keep with you at all times. Great fun to make too! Maybe I should publish some of my blog posts in PocketMod format too!

This christmas I almost accidentally burned my macbook pro too. I was transferring some photo’s (ofcourse with the damn cables and not with that fancy card reader thing i really would like to have) and when i was done with my photos i just closed the lit of my macbook and put its second skin, zipped that up and walked away assuming it would go on standby.
When i later returned to show someone a website on my macbook it was hot like hell and it really had that new factory smell goin’. Instead of going into standby mode it just kept on playing a heavy (heavy as in processor power intensive) screensaver.
Of course this is totally off-topic but it’s better to prevent stuff like that because you won’t get out of such a problem with a nifty key sequence.
I had the same problem with my MacBook Pro! Closed it assuming it would go to sleep and then retrieved it from my Tumi bag as hot as a freshly boiled egg. Since I have got my new MacBook Pro t crashed and restarted more than 15 times after I closed the lid and assumed it would sleep. After I opended the lid again I noticed it was restarting…
MacBook Pro’s can scare the shit out of you. I remember the first time i inserted a disc into the dvd drive and i almost crapped my pants hearing the sound of a disc being swallowed by my mac.
This one is very handy as well: http://www.creativetechs.com/i.....start.html
I really do like the PocketMod concept!
