I just bought an Indochinite Tektite!

January 2nd, 2007

Tektites From SpaceYep, for $13,65 USD including shipping I bought a 750.000 year old Indochinite Tektite. Here is the eBay description:

Tektites From Space.
Weight: 42.0 grams

Tektites are natural formations of pure glass that have fallen to Earth from outside the Earths atmosphere. There are several varieties known to science; the one included is an “Indochinite”. It is understood that the Indochinite tektites were formed some 750,000 years ago when a comet / asteroid struck the Earth near Thailand, exploding a million ton’s of molten rock high into the Earths atmosphere and in to Earth orbit. This material eventually fell back to Earth in a huge shower of “Shooting Stars” which stretched from Australia to Madagascar and as far north as China.

I think it is very cool to own something that old and not from this world.
