A typical helpdesk solution…
…My current Blackberry has a UMTS connection. It means that voice sounds better and data travels faster. Its one of the Unique Selling Points of this Blackberry.
One of the Unique Annoyence Points have been the dropped calls. Since the first day about 50% of all calls are disconnected after a minute or two. It doesn’t matter if I’m in- or outdoors, sitting still or driving in my car.
Time to call the helpdesk. The guy answering was very friendly. I explained the problem and then he answered
“Right, the dropped calls problem!”
What a relief, he knows about my problem, it wasn’t my fault!
“That seems to be a problem between the GPRS and UMTS hand-off…”
I don’t know what that means but ok…
“…and the solution is to just swith UMTS off and only use the GPRS connection.”
Right.
I wish I knew the Vodafone CEO so I could tell him about this ‘solution’. I wonder if this is what he had in mind when he approved the “Vodafone UMTS; the first, the fastest, the best” advertising campaign….
