Why I need a new Blackberry!

At NextFest Patrick and I got an extensive personal demo of the Blackberry Pearl. Within a minute we knew we had to have one. The phone is extremely small, light and cool. The screen looks great and the keypad feels solid.

But the main reason we need one is that it is the ultimate blogging tool. I thought my current (one week old) Blackberry was a great blogging tool but the Blackberry Pearl is even better. My guess is that the keyboard actually increases your typing speed because the buttons are easier to type on. On a qwerty keyboard you have to touch each button exactely right or you get the wrong letter. On the Blackberry Pearl keyboard you sort of aim between two buttons and the Pearl guesses which key you meant.

It took us a little more than 2 minutes to get used to this and then we were hooked. But the main reason the Blackberry Pearl is the ultimate blogging tool is the build in camera. The prospect of being able to document everything right away and without delay is very tempting.

Right now I carry a Blackberry and a digital camera. Often I photograph stuff with the intention to add that photo to a blogpost and then forget about it. Or by the time I am near my computer to get the photos of the camera the moment has passed and I’m not interested in going thought the process of finding the photo and writing about it.
As soon as we can order the Pearl in The Netherlands I will.
