My birthday
Today is my birthday. I’m 35 now. I woke up with about personal emails congratulating me and more than 10 server generated mails from sites like OpenBC. Seems I’m more popular with PCs than people…
CORRECTION: I received a lot more mails from people after I posted this. It seems servers are a bit quicker. That’s all.

The Theory of Second Systems
This theory was formulated by Frederik Brooks from IBM.
He worked on big computer projects and learned from experience that any second version of a succesful project generally includes all the features that were left out of the first version because of time or funding limits.
Developers, when given enough time and money will try to build in every imaginable feature in the second system making it unmanagable, bloated and inefficient.

a girl I know told me a stroy about her young son. He uses the computer to browse and email. He is 6 years old.
She told me ‘he thinks eveything is a website’. She told me that he and his father spend some time on the computer last weekend. Then the boy came up to her, blushing with pride, and told her:
‘Dad showed me the Word website. I can write stuff in there’
He meant Microsoft Word. I wonder if Microsoft is ready for the future.
