2200+ spam messages, 400+ unread messages in my inbox. About 30 snailmails and a lot of rotten food in the refrigerator. We arrived at 2 in the morning carrying heavy suitcases and two sleeping girls.
I’m a bit tired today…

We are packing up and getting ready to catch our plane. Au revoir Juan les Pins…
I’m in the hotel garden looking up at the sky. It is windy. I can see seagulls flying. Floating. Way up high. They have flown so high that I’m wondering about a few things:
- Do seagulls ever get afraid of heights?
- what are they doing up there??? There is no fish!
- do they ever die of a heartattack and plunge out of the sky?
Is today Disaster Day?
My 4 year old daughter was walking along the beach of Juan les Pins with my mother when a fisherman pointed them to a man in the water. He was way out in the sea en seemed to be diving and coming up again in a strange manner. They told the life guard and within minutes there were about 10 resque boats, a sealed off beach, 30 police- and firepatrol cars and one helicopter.
They are still searching for the missing swimmer but haven’t found him yet…
Then I get to the hotel where my other daughter is taking a nap en check my email. One of them is from Patrick saying that burglars tried to break into our office. They couldn’t get the door open so they then tried to break down a wall. That didn’t work either so they left empty handed.
And all the valuable stuff wasn’t even IN the office! These were seriously stupid burglars.
I hope that concludes the bad news for today.
UPDATE: no it wasn’t. Turns out that the smoke we saw at the end of the day were the forrest fires that almost reached Cannes…
…Sort of.
I’m on the public beach of Juan les Pins and am staring at Jim Clarks boat about a mile away while enjoying our take-away food.
It feels good to be this close to that much wealth.
I had a small kitchen accident yesterday. We were cooking breast of duck. You prepare that by frying it in a baking pan in its own grease.
The boiling grease splashed in my eye just as I wanted to look into the pan.
I doused it with water for a while and it didn’t hurt much but it was quite a shock.
I have two very small red spots on my eyelid now. Nobody notices it.
